Learning Quest 2009 @ SST

Today, I went on a new school at Ngee Ann Poly called School of Science and Technology(SST). I woke up at 7+ in the morning and rushed to school. When I arrived there, EVERYONE was waiting. The teacher in charge explained to me that I was the last one to arrive. If I had arrived a minute later, I would have been left behind! After that, we went straight to the small coach that took us on a long journey to Clementi Ave 6, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore. The rest of the students from Bukit Panjang Primary, Saint Hilda's Primary etc all arrived in big coaches. We were brought to the Lecture Theatre 79(LT79), where we had a little intro on the school's facilities and all. And then we had a little quiz, a quiz on optical illusions such as:

Do you see a woman or a musician? What are the 2 words in this picture?

Are there 2 prongs or 3 prongs? Is this possible?
After the quiz was our Maths lesson, where we learnt about how to solve certain questions and the strategies. We were given a small break in the middle of the lesson. Then we watched some funny videos and stuff. We finished it off at 1230.
We went for lunch, which was a long walk to the canteen area. It was eggs, rice, veg and 2 chicken drumsticks.
Then we walked all the way back again. Lab time! The instructor taught us the different parts of a cell and their functions. We then did a small model of a human cell using...Food! Biscuit for the nucleus, pasta for the lysosomes etc. We also extracted DNA from our cheek cells. We also played a part of a forensic scientist to solve a crime.

There was a magic show where science was involved. There was one trick where the magician used a magnet to deflate a balloon! There was also once where he could make balls teleport from a hand to another! The LT erupted with non-stop applause.
Certificates were then given out and distributed to everyone. The principal gave a talk to end the day.
I could put SST onto my list of secondary schools!
