PSLE

It was tough. Like everyone out there has experienced it before (or going to experience it).

Going through the process is not fun. This is no play-play matter.

Every time the papers are given out, the stress all starts getting into the head, making the brain pump like mad. However, when the papers are collected, the feeling of great accomplishment is there.

In school, everyone would be up to the nose with practise papers. Most of our PE time was taken up by papers. Assessment and remedial is unavoidable.

Few days after the PSLE, there was a prize-giving ceremony to mark the end of 6 years in KHS. Everyone bid everyone gd bye. Some of the girls even cried. Normal lah...

There goes my 6 years of learning in primary. What lays ahead is a never-ending myriad of knowledge.

Sorry...

Dear readers,

lost contact for the time being. I apologize.

Been busy with the PSLE. My mum's been pouring out the work at that time.

Hope to be keeping you reading with new entries!

Doesn't this...

Look like This?

This could hit the headlines! It would be named: Star Wars Part VII, Star Destroyers Sighted in Singapore!

Aunt's House VisitS!

I went to stay at my Aunt's house over the holidays 2 times! The first time was with my brother. We went over on 14/03/09. We had a fun time there. We went to Bishan Park in the morning to have a jog and breakfast. The breakfast was very expensive and our jaws dropped when we saw the bill. We never went there ever again. After breakfast, we walked back home and did some work assigned by our aunt. We took turns to be at the computer for games. My brother went back home a day after me.

The next stay for me was on 21/03/09. Aunt asked me over to do work. We went to Bishan Park again to have breakfast at a different restaurant. There was a wedding going on there. We later found out that it actually holds birthday parties, anniversaries etc. too! Went home after that to start work and computer games. Went to McDonald's with Dad and WF. (By that time, Dad had already picked me up. Mum went for wedding dinner.)Came back home, got bag ready and looked forward to another schooling day.

Learning Quest 2009 @ SST

Today, I went on a new school at Ngee Ann Poly called School of Science and Technology(SST). I woke up at 7+ in the morning and rushed to school. When I arrived there, EVERYONE was waiting. The teacher in charge explained to me that I was the last one to arrive. If I had arrived a minute later, I would have been left behind! After that, we went straight to the small coach that took us on a long journey to Clementi Ave 6, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore. The rest of the students from Bukit Panjang Primary, Saint Hilda's Primary etc all arrived in big coaches. We were brought to the Lecture Theatre 79(LT79), where we had a little intro on the school's facilities and all. And then we had a little quiz, a quiz on optical illusions such as:

Do you see a woman or a musician? What are the 2 words in this picture?

Are there 2 prongs or 3 prongs? Is this possible?
After the quiz was our Maths lesson, where we learnt about how to solve certain questions and the strategies. We were given a small break in the middle of the lesson. Then we watched some funny videos and stuff. We finished it off at 1230.
We went for lunch, which was a long walk to the canteen area. It was eggs, rice, veg and 2 chicken drumsticks.
Then we walked all the way back again. Lab time! The instructor taught us the different parts of a cell and their functions. We then did a small model of a human cell using...Food! Biscuit for the nucleus, pasta for the lysosomes etc. We also extracted DNA from our cheek cells. We also played a part of a forensic scientist to solve a crime.

There was a magic show where science was involved. There was one trick where the magician used a magnet to deflate a balloon! There was also once where he could make balls teleport from a hand to another! The LT erupted with non-stop applause.
Certificates were then given out and distributed to everyone. The principal gave a talk to end the day.
I could put SST onto my list of secondary schools!

Marina Barrage Trip

On Sunday, we went to the Marina Barrage with WF's 文化艺术团 friend, Andrew and family. We went there for a guided tour.

That day, we were the first to arrive. The whole building was fascinating with many different enjoyable spots. We took a walk to the bridge for a while and saw how the 30 metres wide, five metres high and 70 ton gates be opened. The siren sounded for 2 minutes and the gates opened. When they warned us to stay clear of the bridge, Mum panicked and told us to run for the building. But when we waited for a few minutes and nothing happened, we went back on.
When Andrew and family arrived, the tour started after a few minutes. The tour guide brought us to the bridge and explained that the siren was for boats and swimmers, we all looked at Mum with the "Told You..." feeling.

Then was a trip to the gallery where many interactive activities could be found. There was this bottle building that was made out of around 10 000 bottles. There was also an interactive about Singapore where we could find the efforts Singapore put in to create a wonderful environment by sliding many panels along a timeline.

We were brought to this room where they had a small model about the Marina Barrage, telling us how it works. It showed us different scenarios how the Barrage keeps the level of the reservoir and the sea the same. Once the sea's and the reservoir's water levels are the same and the rain keeps pouring in, it will empty the reservoir by its pumps, which can drain the amount of water that fills an Olympic-sized swimming pool in less than 9 seconds! Great, huh?
After all that, we were brought to the roof, where grass was seen all over the area. The grass is there to provide a place for kite-flying and picnicking and at the same time, provide a natural cooling system, where the sea, the Marina Bay and the city skyline can be seen. We decided to have a picnic and a kite-flying experience with them again in May.

When the tour group was dismissed, we headed for the Esplanade to have dinner at Ichiban Boshi. We had a feast and went home having our tummies filled to the brim.

Fun and meaningful are always 2 words to describe trips.

Korea Trip (Part 6)

Our last day. We took the coach to have breakfast at a buffet somewhere. I heaved a sigh of relief as Western food was finally available.

We then took a trip to Namsangol Hanok Village. It was a preserved traditional Korean village. It showed us how the Koreans lived, how they ate, slept, played etc. They showed us how the buildings looked like.

We had meat, sauteed meat and side dishes...again!

Then, we headed for the airport. These were some of the scenes on the road.

After a loooonnnnnnnngggggggg period of time, (This is an exaggeration, do not follow!!) we finally reached the airport. W stood in the queue to get our baggage checked in and OFF WE GO!!!( Another!!)

We had lots of baggage at that time, about five to six. Carrying them was an even bigger headache when WF didn't want to carry anything.

This was a meaningful trip as we learnt a lot of things about other countries, their traditions, arts, lesiure, styles of eating etc.

Korea trip (Part 5)

At first, we had breakfast then we went to a Ginseng Centre. There, we learnt about the ginseng and its stages. Ginseng (人参) is a person-like Chinese herb that helps with cooling. Since no photography was allowed, there were only a few pictures.
After that, there was a shop that sold Dong Chong Xia Cao (冬虫夏草), a Chinese medical herb which is a type of grass with a bug inside. We were amazed by it. We bought quite a lot of products.

We had ginseng chicken 4 lunch. The steaming chicken made us salivate profusely. This was my first time eating ginseng chicken.

We then went to a kimichi school. We went there to make kimichi. We were given the already ready ingredients to make the most common type of kimichi, cabbage kimichi. The teacher told us exactly how the ingredients and how they are made. Kimichi does not rot, it only gets more fermented and sour.

After that, we saw a show on traditional Korean dances and songs. The traditional music was absolutely wonderful.

Soon, dark fell. We headed to 7 Luck Casino. The lights were attractive, but there was nothing much we could do. Hence, we were taken to the PlayStations to have a few hours of fun.

Soon, we went to Namdemun market. Lights were flashing away. Side stalls and shops filled the street. We bought a few light snacks and two ice-creams with an unbelievable height: 35 cm!!

We were soon overcomed by fatigue. We reached the hotel and did the same as usual. (Read Korea Trip (Part 1-4))
